> Yemen Breakfast Club

Yemen is currently one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. 17 million people in Yemen are food insecure and nearly a third of all families have gaps in their diets and rarely have access to pulses, vegetables, fruit, dairy or meat. The rate of child malnutrition is one of the highest in the world, with 2.2 million children under 5 suffering from acute malnutrition.

Over 2.4 million school-aged children in Yemen are out of school and 8.5 million primary school-aged children are in need of humanitarian assistance. A 2023 UNESCO report reveals 73 million marginalized children lack school feeding, while 1 in 3 schools lack water and sanitation.

Good health and nutrition are vital for learning, enhancing educational outcomes and promoting inclusion. School feeding programs benefit learners, homes, and communities, transforming education and rebuilding the system for better outcomes and equity.

> Introducing READ Foundation’s Breakfast Club:

We are thrilled to announce that the Breakfast Club has successfully completed its first year, during which we provided essential meals to 709 students and teachers and rehabilitated WASH facilities across the school. By prioritising the rehabilitation and improvement of WASH facilities in schools, raising awareness of hygiene issues, and providing schools with essential hygiene materials, the project plays a critical role in preventing the spread of disease and improving overall health. The Breakfast Club's impact includes improved health and academic performance, reduced absenteeism, increased enrolment, and enhanced education access, especially for marginalised girls.

In our second year we are expanding our reach to accommodate 1,189 students and teachers, including working in two girls' schools. By supporting the READ Foundation's Breakfast Club initiative, you can make a tangible difference in the lives of Yemeni children. Your contribution will not only provide nutritious meals but also pave the way for a brighter future, ensuring that children have the opportunity to thrive academically and break free from the vicious cycle of poverty and food insecurity. Join us in making a lasting impact on education, health, and the well-being of Yemen's young generation. Donate today and help us bring positive change to Yemen's education landscape.
